About the Scholarship
At Westmed, our success is deeply rooted in the dedication of our diverse team and the communities they represent. We recognize the importance of giving back, which is why we launched the Rising Star Scholarship.
The Rising Star EMT Scholarship helps selected students complete EMT training through Bay Area Training Academy. The scholarship is designed to support future EMTs who are ready to begin a career in EMS and serve their community. Scholarship recipients receive support for EMT training costs and may be eligible to apply for employment with Westmed Ambulance Service after completing the program and earning state licensure.
What the Scholarship Covers

Tuition Support
Covers EMT course tuition through Bay Area Training Academy.

Training Materials
Includes required uniforms, textbooks, and course materials.

Career Pathway
Qualified graduates may apply for EMT openings with Westmed.
Eligibility Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Hold a valid Class C driver’s license for at least two years with no violations
Be able to lift approximately 120 lbs.
Be fully vaccinated for COVID, including booster shots
Complete the pre-entrance exam
Be a resident of a systemically disadvantaged community
Submit a one-page personal essay with the application

Our Training Partner
Bay Area Training Academy is an accredited college that provides EMT training in Alameda and Santa Clara County. Scholarship recipients complete hands-on training through BATA while building a pathway toward a career in EMS.
